On a cold morning, we spotted an elegant young lady busy unlocking her bike. A bike with a basket that matched her lady-like style. The lady is an Amsterdammer since 4 months. Welcome to Amsterdam, Aleksandra! We can have more elegant girls like you in town!

Why does this look works
Alexandra is giving us a great example of how an outfit made of solid colors can still look exciting - if the colors of the outfit are dark, play with texture and interesting details. Notice how all her clothes have different texture: knitted hat, "tapestry"-like scarf, leather gloves, suede shoes. The military-style buttons on her coat add even more visual interest, and if that's not enough, Alexandra is hinting there's more color by slightly opening here coat to show off just a piece of a spring colorful dress underneath.
Be inspired by Aleksandra's colourful look
With spring arriving, we all long for a more cheerful and colourful look.
Cloudy and windy Amsterdam weather can still be an obstacle, so take Aleksandra's "early spring look" as an example. Style up your outfit by adding visually interesting textured details like a scarf, hat or pair of gloves to your "winter" coat. How about changing those simple and boring buttons of your coat to more interesting ones?! You can also pair your coat with open shoes (instead of boots) and put a colorful dress, pullover or tunic underneath it, to make the whole look more exciting and fresh.
