izakaya amsterdam

Izakaya is Japanese for an (after work) drinking establishment where (bar) food is served to accompany the drinks. I love bar food: bitterballen, bruscetta and dim sum - yum, yum and yum! At Izakaya they serve Japanese fusion food suitable to be enjoyed at the bar.

what I love about Izakaya Amsterdam

I love food and drinks, style and service. That’s what Izakaya offers at a high standard. The place is beautifully designed (modern) and features an impressive wine collection. The music and the vibe are upbeat and funky. More Lang Kwai Fong (HK) than De Pijp.

Best Asian Food in Amsterdam

Updated on May 2, 2012 by Registered CommenterKira

In the first Chinese Tea House in Amsterdam, I got acquainted with Amanda Yiu. She is the owner of Formocha and shows that serving tea is a true art. While making the tea Amanda Yiu takes its time and lets you enjoy each step of the process. You simply can’t rush in to get a cup and down it disrepectfully. No, tea is equivalent to a moment of peace and calm. While I was calming down, a conversation started.

In this post I shall share with you Amanda Yiu’s favourite food places in Amsterdam.

Best Indian Restaurants in Amsterdam

Guided by our Indian friends, we share with you our favourite Indian restaurants in Amsterdam. This selection is very short though, as we never felt the need to try other Indian restaurants after frequnting Taj Mahal and the recently-closed Guru. The Best of China Town in Amsterdam

Behind the Red Light District, you'll find Zeedijk - a long narrow street with many Chinese shops and Asian restaurants. Zeedijk's street signs are even translated into those beautiful Chinese symbols. Amsterdam's China Town may not be much larger than one long street, it does boast a real Buddhist Temple Fo Guang Shan and enough Maneki Niko cats to bring you good fortune (see photo left).

In this post: 2 cheap yet delicious Chinese places, Thai snackbar or restaurant, Sake bar and the Asian supermarket.
